I admit, I think that lists are a lazy way to make a post, but lazy is appealing to me right now. Here are some things that I have been doing lately:

- Taking some new dance classes
- Signed up for Hot Rhythm Holiday
- Knitted a little on my beautiful but interminable Evenstar shawl
- Upped my drinking to prepare my liver for Dragoncon
- Started biking to and from work three times a week

I am currently freaking out that I leave for Dragoncon this weekend. I really wish it was Saturday.

My poor Sammy relapsed with a terrible fever again this past weekend, and rather than make him suffer through who knows how many more hospitalizations we put him to sleep yesterday.

What, like you never drop off the face of the planet for months at a time?

Here are some things that have happened lately, in no particular order:

Sam the cat was deathly ill for two weeks. He is currently recovering, eating lots to put weight back on and being affectionate. SXSW happened, and I avoided it except for the always-awesome nerdcore showcase and a Swedish swing/hip-hop band‘s performance in a pizza parlor’s parking lot. I started knitting lace for reals. I also joined a mystery shawl knitalong and a pattern collection based on Lord of the Rings. I have been watching Spartacus: Blood and Sand every week and enjoying it immensely. I didn’t quite manage to finish Killer 7 before FFXIII came out, so it’s just going to have to wait. I went to (part of) a dance workshop weekend. I will also be doing a dance routine for a showcase in June and am somewhat terrified.

Posting will hopefully commence at a more normal rate.

This weekend I finally retired the trusty Samsung T609 I’ve had for over three years and jumped headfirst into smart phone territory with the Motorola CLIQ. I was originally looking at the G1 (and I still like the keyboard a bit better) but went with the CLIQ mostly because the system memory is larger and, well, it’s newer so I’m hoping it’ll be a while before it’s obsolete.

I have to say, I am extremely impressed with the CLIQ so far. The big draw is their custom Android build/service/skin thingie, Blur. Essentially it just syncs up all of your social networking crap with your phone book. So when I’m looking at a contact I can see their phone number, birthday, and email address, along with their latest Twitter or Facebook updates. There’s also a “universal inbox” that aggregates all of your email, texts, and PMs from the aforementioned social networking sites, and a “happenings” widget that aggregates all of your friends’ stuff. As Dane has said it can make you feel a bit TOO connected at times, but as long as you don’t obsess it’s a neat feature.

Other cool bits: it has five virtual desktops so you don’t have to clutter your home screen; a handy “silence” switch; a 5MP camera; a button for quick access to wifi, GPS, Bluetooth, and power settings; and a plain ol’ micro USB port and headphone jack (hooray for no proprietary connectors!). The keyboard is smaller than the G1 so it’s not quite as easy to type with, but I have been getting better pretty quickly. I have been poking around and getting used to the Android OS as well and I am really liking it.

This morning I came into work and was greeted by a pair of Hershey’s Kisses on my desk. These were not your standard silver wrapped Kisses, but an unfamiliar teal wrapping. They were Kisses with Macadamia nuts, and they are delicious! Turns out that a coworker picked up a bag of these lovelies while visiting Hawaii. While wandering around the internet looking for these I also discovered limited edition cherry, coconut creme, truffle, and hot cocoa Kisses, which all look amazing. I’m going to see if I can procure some of these, preferably in something smaller than a 6lb case.

Well, sort of. Remember that awesome Tonberry cake from Chris and Christine’s wedding? Christine submitted it to Cake Wrecks for their “Sunday Sweets” feature using one of the pictures I took, and it ended up on Wired! So really it’s a second-hand fame, being that it’s their wedding cake and all, but I take what I can get.
