My poor Sammy relapsed with a terrible fever again this past weekend, and rather than make him suffer through who knows how many more hospitalizations we put him to sleep yesterday.

So after all the crap I was dealing with dyeing feathers I think it turned out pretty nice! Interesting things that I learned:
1) The shaft of a feather hurts when applied via corset to your soft belly, especially when left there for several hours.
2) Working with spandex is unpleasant, and I still need some practice with stretchy seams.
3) Putting on false eyelashes is impossible.
This is probably the most painful, restrictive, and unforgiving costume I’ve worn, but it’s still probably my favorite. I’m definitely wearing it again on Halloween.

Me and the lovely Canadian breath spray that was my prize for my witty shirt at the Yelp party this past Tuesday. The communist party shirt I’m wearing here is actually my second shirt… I wore this shirt over it and did a mid-party wardrobe change.
(In case you were wondering, the phrase I was using on my original shirt that won me stuff was “i’m in ur Yelp FUCing ur reviews”, which really only makes sense if you are on Yelp.)

Friday was chock full of nerdcore goodness. First we headed to the Ritz Drafthouse for a showing of Nerdcore Rising, the documentary that followed MC Frontalot on his first tour. The director and Front were both in attendance for a Q&A session after the show. Very cool, very funny. Then we walked across the street to the Flamingo Cantina to see MC Frontalot, MC Lars, and YT Cracker perform. In a word: AMAZING. The club was tiny and cramped but the show was ridiculously fun and everyone seemed to be having a great time. Also Front let me take a picture with him, so bonus awesomeness for that.

This is my favorite shot of my Draco costume, even if it doesn’t show the whole outfit. I think Dane said something obnoxious to try and get me to quit grinning in the shots.
