need a gaming news site
Posted in gaming, I am filled with loathing for mankind, monkeys with keyboards, the internet is stupid on 01/28/2008 11:06 am by sushiI need a recommendation for a good gaming news site. My requirements are simple:
1) Up to date news
2) No console bias or favoritism
3) Doesn’t include upskirt photos of PVC figurines or other such nonsense
I’ve tried several sites over the past few months and have had problems with all of them. Please, I need to get my gaming news without wanting to smash my monitor!

I generally keep up to date in the gaming world with http://www.escapistmagazine.com/ It leans a lot harder towards the editorial/review end of the spectrum, but most of the big breaking gaming news stories (especially those stories with political implications) make it through their feed. Also, they publish Zero Punctuation ever week, which is the best thing evar.

I’ve poked around on Escapist before, but I don’t really like the format. I mainly want something with short news blurbs and minimal editorializing, ie “Konami announced today that Silent Hill 8 will be coming out on the PS4 in Q4 2015″, followed by some screen shots or a little extra detail. Escapist does get points for Yahtzee, though.
I’ve been trying out various flavors of “(console)fanboy.com” yesterday and today and so far I have been pleased.

OK I’ll admit it. I typed “no nonsense gaming news” into Google and this was the second site in the list. BTW The Sporting News was the first… I didn’t think that would be very helpful.

I’ll try that out as well. They don’t seem to have very many updates, but it’s possible that they stick with confirmed news and avoid rumors.
