on visits and video games

It’s been pretty busy around here. Dane’s lack of sufficient time off combined with me starting a new job about two weeks ago means that we aren’t able to do any traveling for the holidays. To be honest, I’m thrilled that we’ll be staying in town. It means we’ll have some nice relaxing vacation time at home.

To make up for our non-visit, my family came to see us last week. It was nice that they were finally able to visit and we had a great time. We went out to eat almost every night during the weekend, and two weekends in a row were spent on sightseeing. Unfortunately, once everyone left Dane and I realized how tired we were. Luckily we’ve both got a four-day weekend coming up. We’ve got some gaming with friends planned for Saturday, but otherwise I think we’ll be ensconced with DVDs, knitting, and video games. Most excellent.

Another item of note is that I finally appear to be putting a dent in my massive backlog of DS games. I finished Super Princess Peach a month ago, and Mario & Luigi: Partners in Time just last week. (Partners in Time had one of the most ridiculous final bosses ever. Thankfully, there’s GameFAQs.) I’m having some issues with FFIII, though. I’m finally at the last dungeon (which is actually more like four dungeons crammed together without a save point in between) and I think I’m going to have to take some time to do a little leveling. I tried to go through the dungeon on Sunday and ended up dying after about two hours of playtime, thus losing all of that work. My current party is completely offensive and I’ve been using Hi Potions to heal in between battles. Unfortunately I can’t carry more than 99 of those, and I can’t buy Elixirs or anything better, so it doesn’t really cut it for this massive area.
