music simulation games take up lots of space

I realized the other day that I have a relatively large collection of specialized game controllers. Sometimes just telling people that I have a lot of strange stuff doesn’t really help, so I thought a picture might do it justice. From left to right:
Guitar Hero guitar
Taiko Drum Master drum
Beatmania IIDX DJ turntable
Donkey Konga bongos
Para Para Paradise laser pods
And of course, the DDR metal dance pad.

On a scale of 1-to-awesome, how awesome would you rate Drum Master?
Also, how often do you play the Bongo games?

It’s pretty high up on the awesome scale when you first get it, but it doesn’t capture my attention for very long. There’s plenty of difficulty, the number of songs is just kind of small. I’ll let you play it sometime if you like. It’s fun to bash the drum with these huge plastic sticks. Same thing with the Konga. Great for a while, and lots of fun if your friend comes over with his drums. I’d probably classify both of those as party games.
Guitar Hero, DDR, and Para straddle the line by being fun to play either alone or with friends. There’s enough movement by the player and interesting stuff on the screen for non-players to enjoy watching. IIDX, on the other hand, is the most boring game to watch ever (unless you are also a IIDX player), but it’s hella fun to play.

Oh, I have the Guitar Hero. In fact, I AM A GUITAR HERO. Working through Hard mode now… I have beaten about a dozen songs in that mode.
I get my DS Lite this Sunday. We must connect wirelessly.

I love Electroplankton. It is beautiful. The only downsides are no options for recording and saving sessions, and no WiFi.
I realize I need more WiFi enabled games.

I didn’t know Electroplankton was a musical game. I’ll have to check it out.
