Remember how I got an ice cream maker from Woot a few weeks ago? I already made my second batch last night, a soft lime sherbert. The recipe was a little skimpy on the sugar, so it’s a bit tart, but still pretty damn good. We made our first batch last weekend during the ice storm, a super creamy vanilla.

The machine is indeed magical. The tub sits in my freezer until I’m ready to make something new, then just pop it on the motor and let it go for about half an hour. Gone are the days of rock salt and hand cranks. The only thing that can be complicated are the actual recipes, and there are plenty of simple ones if you don’t feel like a lot of work.

This means that visitors who ask me nicely may get some homemade ice cream.
