my ps2 is jacked up

Kevin came over and soldered for several hours Monday, but forgot to ground the thing before turning the power on to test. Whoops. A flash of light and much profanity later, he discovered that the power board was burned out. After replacing that he also discovered that the laser is burned out. He’s looking around for one now, and once it’s replaced it should work. Ah well, shit happens. Poor Kevin was beating himself up over it, but God knows I’ve made plenty of silly mistakes before. At least it was only two easy-to-replace components and not the whole motherboard or something.
To top it off the Panda Express I got him that night gave him food poisoning. Still not sure what it was, as I had the same thing as him and was totally fine. Sorry it’s been such a pain, man, but I really appreciate your help.

I didn’t forget to ground the ps2… i neglected to insulate the bottom of the power source (by not putting it in the bottom half of its plastic case) when i powered it on. A stupid mistake from not paying enough attention… but at least it only cost $12 to fix in the end
